Residents in any surrounding area (Mescal, J6) could 100% be impacted, the significance of the impact will depend on what Heavy Industry they decide to develop. Of course, this could be changed at any time and be worse than anticipated.
The first and biggest concern is water, they already have 3 Water wells with 50gpm capacity on the property.
Could someone come in and pump the water, run your well dry and then offer to sell you water?
YES, and this is EXACTLY how urban expansion begins.
We already know Arizona has a aquifer problem (because of lack of water restrictions on commercial use) where Farms are drilling 1,500 foot or more, deep wells, running local residents wells dry in the Sunsites, Wilcox, Elfrida and all the way down to Douglas.
When you run an aquifer dry for too long, you’ll start getting sinkholes and fissures in all surrounding areas.
The average residential well in the area is 200-650 foot depending on elevation.
If you had to drill down further than the lowest estimate of 1,500 feet with the average cost of drilling a well in Arizona is likely between $27 and $58 per foot or another way to put it if you had to drill down an additional 500 feet just to get water you are looking at anywhere from $13,500 to $29,000 and you still wouldn’t be anywhere near the new lower water table.
If you are on a well share or use “public” water, they would also have to drill their wells even deeper, and YOU will pay for it.
